2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 31: Peek a boo

Last picture of the month...Yuki peeking out from under the covers on our bed.  Who can resist this cuteness?

Jan. 30: What a waste!

At work, when it is time to discard old/discontinued patterns, we have to destroy them, tear them apart, before putting them in the trash.  Such a waste when they could be put to good use for a non-profit organization or charity.  An example of corporate greed and our throw-away society.

Jan. 29: Tremors 4 Pack? Yes...

Jan. 28: Soaking up the sun

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 27: Jewelry

Jan. 26: Playtime

It took her some time to warm up to it, but Yuki really enjoys this toy now.

Jan. 25: View from my window

I love pictures of trees.

Jan. 24: Frosty windows

The view from the living room window this morning, frost on the inside of the window.

Jan. 23: Ouch!

Tried to cut off my finger at work today with a box.  Not a box cutter, with the edge of the box.  Stupid, uh?

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 22: A new toy.

Yuki's new love for the Denver Broncos, or maybe it's just the catnip in the new pouch that I made for her tonight.

Jan. 21: Not impressed.

Apparently,Yuki is not as taken with the Denver Broncos as I am.  Oh well, she's still getting a new toy made out of this fleece I picked up at work today.

Jan. 20: A little trust would go a long way.

No, the causes of shrink are not numbered here but there is a clear implication of major mistrust toward employees. I can't imagine this helps employee relations.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 19: Waterloo....Indiana

Stopped to get gas this afternoon while traveling from Michigan to Ohio and found myself in a familiar town...almost.  Sorry, Iowa, not this time.

Jan. 18: Had to break a rule to chose this photo

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 17: Is there hope?

I've managed to salvage the candle.  But the real question, and the only one that matters, is can the friendship be salvaged?

Jan. 16: Some creative inspiration ; )

One yard of some of the cheesiest fabric I have ever seen.  There is actually a series of this fabric with cartoons of half-naked men dressed for the various holidays and of course, my favorite, cowboys.  A couple of co-workers and I have decided that we need to make something out of them.  : )

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 10: Well, crap...

I guess I didn't really want this job anyway.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 9: Must protect the clothes

Jan. 8: Frozen river

Over the course of the last nine days, I've asked myself several questions regarding this project, trying to figure out the rules.  Although it's my project and I can set the rules, I still want to have those parameters by which to define it.  So, after questioning the quality of a photo or two, I've decided that that does not matter, as long as the subject is visible.  This is not about taking great photos, it's about documenting my life, one day at a time.  The subject, however, must present itself during the course of my day.  I will not go in search of a photo opportunity for the day's shot.

The first seven days, I was able to post every night, before I went to bed.  For reasons unimportant to this explanation, I didn't do so the past two nights.  Is this a problem?  I've decided no, as long as the photos are attributed to the correct day in the post.  I will, however, try to post at least four or more times a week.

And yes, there are already three pictures of Yuki.  She's an important part of my life, so what can I say?  Besides, it's January, cold outside, I'm only working part-time…I'm spending a lot of time at home with her.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 6: Remembering a snow day in 2010

This candle was made by one of my best friends in early 2010 when we were snowed in together for a couple of days.  We had so much fun, drinking, playing board games and being crafty.  Until this weekend, this was the last time I was snowed in at home for an extended period of time.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 3: Good morning.

Most nights, Yuki sleeps right next to me so she's often the first thing I see every morning.  My baby.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 2: Working with flowers

On a day that brought the first major snowstorm of the year, I spent the day at work organizing the flower section.  My first choice for the picture of the day was of the snow but that seemed too easy.  While at work this afternoon, I realized the irony of my task for the day.

2014: A Photo a Day

Jan. 1, 2014: Inspiration.  Watching a TED Talk on my notebook.

After watching this TED Talk (http://www.ted.com/talks/cesar_kuriyama_one_second_every_day.html), I've been inspired to record my life in one photo a day.  I've chosen photos over video simply because it will be easier for me since my current phone does not record video.  Maybe when I can afford a new phone that has the video capability, I'll do it as well.  But until that time, still photo it is.  At the end of the year, I think it will be interesting to see what I remember about each photo and each day.  I'm not going to set any requirements or restrictions on what the photo is, except that I will try to keep them from my point of view, meaning no pictures of me.  Let's see how this goes!

So, this first photo is of my netbook while I'm watching the TED Talk that serves as my inspiration.
